Acupuncture is very safe when performed by a licensed acupuncturist. Needles are filiform needles that are very fine and usually painless upon insertion into acupuncture points. Generally patients will report heaviness, warmth, cold, or electric sensations at acupuncture points
Electrical Stimulation Acupuncture (E- Stim)
E-stim therapy enhances the therapeutic affect of selected acupuncture points. Needles receive electrical current, which is felt as a pulsation. E-stim treatment usually lasts 10-20 minutes.
Central Coast Family Acupuncture receives its Chinese herbs from reputable herb companies distributing from the United States. The herbs go through a rigorous process to determine authenticity and purity in order to ensure that the highest quality herbs are dispensed to patients. Herbs can be prescribed in bulk form, which will need to be decocted by the patient, and by pill form. Granule pharmacy will be coming soon.
The ancient art of cupping can be administered for musculoskeletal issues, colds, joint pain, gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory disorders, gynecological issues etc. Cupping can leave bruises that will resolve on its own.
Gua Sha technique is used with a smooth surfaced tool and oil (or other lubricant) to increase circulation in a specific area or areas. This technique can be used for a wide range of applications, such as colds, flus, musculoskeletal problems, myalgia, strain, sprain, respiratory issues, and more. Gua Sha technique can leave minor bruising on the skin which resolves on its own.
Acupressure, Massage, Bodywork
Tui Na is a form of Chinese Medical Massage which can be performed without removing ones clothing. It is a very effective and relaxing form of massage.
Non Needle insertion Japanese Meridian therapy that gently stimulates acupuncture points and the meridians. This technique is typically used for babies, children, and sensitive individuals.
Consultation consists of a 10-15 minute conversation to see if Chinese Medicine is an appropriate treatment option.
What to do before your treatment
Please eat 30 min before your treatment and bring comfortable clothing. It is best to have below the knees and elbows accessible. If needed, a gown will be provided.
If you have insurance that covers acupuncture we will gladly submit your claims for you. You are responsible for your deductible, your co-pay and co-insurance amounts. If your insurance denies payment of a claim you are responsible for the billed charges.
